The number one tourist destination worldwide, Paris sets itself apart by being the “global capital of rental between individuals” according to Airbnb CEO Brian Chesky. The city has indeed become the American start-up’s number one market in number of postings, with 40 000 Parisian accommodations registered on the website to date, compared to 4000 three years ago.

In total no less than 1.8 million travellers from around the globe used Airbnb for their trips to the capital since 2008. It’s a number that Bruno Julliard, the First Deputy Mayor of Paris, is proud of: “Innovation and hospitality are the two pillars that Paris will continue to focus on to shine in terms of being a leading tourist destination worldwide. Airbnb, offering a service that compliments the hospitality sector, perfectly embodies these two elements.”
