As you may already know, the French government is entering the final stage of reviewing new rules which could have significant consequences for hosts working with Airbnb or other similar sites. Indeed, in early May, the Senate passed a digital law amendment obliging the registration of all short-term rentals in cities of over 200 000 inhabitants as well as in the municipalities of the departments of Hauts-de-Seine, Seine St. Denis and Val-de-Marne. This would "ensure the traceability and transparency of furnished premises short-term leasing activities." In short, this document seeks to force hosts using platforms such as Airbnb, HomeAway, and Booking.com amongst others to get a ‘license to rent’ from their respective City Halls.

To avoid this red tape that would complicate occasional hosting; Airbnb is launching an online petition against the proposed changes and encourages everyone to share it with their friends and contacts. You too can support French hosts in their quest to maintain fair and just rental regulations by taking action and signing the petition!
